A Pakistani fan’s day in Perth was brightened by India’s top batsmen, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Before the three-match ODI series against Australia, both players are making their return to the Indian squad after almost seven months away. They welcomed supporters outside the team hotel on Thursday, following their arrival in Perth on Wednesday. During the interaction, Rohit and Kohli signed autographs for a Pakistani fan, sharing a memorable experience.
Fan Sahil, a resident of Karachi, described both Kohli and Rohit as extremely humble. “Kohli signed my RCB and Team India jerseys for me. Rohit was sitting on the bus, but upon my request, he came out and signed autographs. This was a huge moment for me,” Sahil said.
Team India Preparing for the Australia Tour
Team India are currently preparing for the limited-overs series against Australia. This tour holds significant importance as it will test the team in challenging foreign conditions. The series will begin with three ODIs, followed by five T20Is.
The series has become even more exciting with the comeback of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Under the new and youthful skipper Shubman Gill, the team is searching for a new balance. The involvement of both veteran players will strengthen the depth and experience of the squad.
Both Kohli and Rohit retired from Tests earlier this year and had called time on their India T20 career after winning the World Cup in Barbados last year.
It could well be the last time that the two ODI greats play Down Under.
Their participation in the 2027 World Cup is also not a given, with a lot depending on their form and fitness at the time. However, new captain Shubman Gill has backed the two superstars given their wealth of experience.
