On the first day of the first Test against West Indies, the Indian team completely dominated the visitors at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. West Indies skipper Roston Chase won the toss and chose to bat first. However, the decision backfired on the team.
The West Indies batting line-up collapsed after the brilliant bowling from the Indian star pacers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Both of them led the charge and Siraj clinched four wickets and Bumrah took three.
However, Jasprit Bumrah’s two wickets came from his deadly yorker, first was on the last delivery of the 39th over to Justin Greaves and he rattled his off-stump. Returning to bowl the 41st over, Bumrah bowled the same one and clinched the wicket of Johann Layne. He departed for 32 and Layne on 1.
Bumrah entered the series under pressure, having faced heavy criticism for missing two matches in the five-Test series against England due to workload management.
