The Indian cricket team has found a gem of a player for Test cricket in the name of Yashasvi Jaiswal. The 23-year-old left-handed opener has scored over 2200 runs in the format during his short career of two years. He has scored 7 centuries and 12 half-centuries since his debut in West Indies.

One noticeable thing about Yashasvi Jaiswal is that out of the 7 centuries he has scored- 5 have turned into scores of 150 runs or more. His most recent outing of 150+ was during the 2nd Test against West Indies- where he got dismissed for 175.

Speaking about these constant big numbers by Yashasvi Jaiswal, former Indian star Mohammad Kaif is convinced that Jaiswal is the player who will shatter the 300-run record of Virender Sehwag. For those unversed, Sehwag scored two triple centuries during his career- with his 319 against South Africa being the highest individual by an Indian so far.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal is a batsman with the patience to score big hundreds and set new marks. In his first 26 matches, his numbers are as good as Sachin’s and Virat’s. Scoring at a high strike rate, his hundreds mostly put India on the path to victory. Sehwag ka 300 wala record, Jaiswal hi todega (Jaiswal will be the one, who will bresk Sehwag’s 300-run record),” Mohammad Kaif posted on X.

Speaking about Yashasvi Jaiswal’s outing against West Indies, he played 258 balls and scored 175 runs at a strike rate of 67.83- accompanied by 22 fours. He was eventually dismissed as he got run-out in a confusion struck manner – where he was out of the crease for a single, but Shubman Gill denied it and Jaiswal failed to reach back inside the line.
