India is all set to face Pakistan in the group stage of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 today (October 5) at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The match is being held in Sri Lanka as both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had an agreement to play on neutral venue.

The BCCI and PCB have settled on the agreement because of the rising border tensions between India and Pakistan, and will play in neutral venues till 2028. Hence, Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium has been picked as the neutral venue for this clash. However, there are chances that rain might spoil this clash.

In case rain spoils the match and the clash gets called off, there is no chance for the game to be re-held as there is no reserve day. This is because it is only a group-stage, and reserve days are only given for semi-finals and the final. Hence, if rain washes off the game, there will be nor result and a point will be given to each team.

As per Accuweather.com, rain is expected in Colombo throughout the day. During the day, there is a 100% chance of rainfall and would last for as long as two hours. During the night, this probability reduces to 61%, which is still significant with 1 and a half hour of pouring. This might result in a delay in the match.

If this situation happens, there is a chance that the match might get reduced to a less than 50-over-a-side match. There is also a chance of rain completely washing out the match. The Australia vs Sri Lanka match in Colombo was also washed out.
