Star Indian player Shubman Gill celebrated his 26th birthday on Monday. He has grown from a young prodigy into a dependable leader and key part of India’s batting lineup.
Shubman Gill celebrated his 26th birthday on Monday. Gill is famous for his brilliant batting performance. He started his journey in Punjab. In his first-class debut, he smashed a fifty and scored 129 runs in the next game.
However, he was soon picked as vice-captain for India’s Under- 19 World Cup team in 2018, where he achieved the title of Player of the Tournament especially for his match-winning century in the semifinal against Pakistan.
On the day of the Indian Premier League 2018 auction, Shubman Gill was still in New Zealand for the World Cup. Kolkata Knight Riders showed faith in Gill and purchased him for Rs. 1.8 crore. He made his ODI debut in 2018.
In the 2023 World Cup, Shubman Gill scored 354 runs as India went unbeaten until the final. He continued his strong form in Tests, piling up 452 runs in five matches against England, playing a big role in India’s 4-1 series win. That same year, his leadership skills were recognised in the IPL when he was appointed captain of the Gujarat Titans after Hardik Pandya moved back to Mumbai Indians
However, Gill has played 37 test matches and scored 2,647 runs at 41.35. On the other hand, in 55 ODI’s he made 2,775 runs with an great average of 59.04. In 21 T20Is, Gill scored 578 runs at 30.42. He will return to the field on Tuesday while serving as T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy in the Asia Cup.
