Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson asked Rajasthan Royals to release him ahead of the IPL 2026 auction or trade him. After working so long with the franchise, the player had finally decided to part ways with the team.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, there is a serious problem between Samson and Rajasthan. Samson’s family clears that he doesn’t want to continue things with the Royals as International. “he no longer wishes to continue with the Royals,” while IPL and international players also hinted that the things are not good between them as before.
According to the reports, the reason for the bad relations between Sanju Samson and the Royals is the team didn’t let Sanju choose his comfortable position in batting. Samson usually batted in the opening position. However, in the middle of the last season of the IPL, Rajasthan Royals made Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the new batting openers, and they didn’t want to change it. That might be the reason for the conflict between these two.
According to the reports, Sanju Samson has asked the team to trade him or leave him. However, the decision is in the hands of Rajasthan Royals as they have a contract with him till 2027. The decision will be tough for the team. If they release him, they will lose the star player who was created by them. If they keep him, it will affect the dressing room of the team.
Rajasthan Royals are exploring for multiple trades and are looking for a replacement for Sanju and, they reach almost every franchise. However, they are not getting the same level of player as Samson.
Famous IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings showed interest in Sanju Samson as, after the retirement of MS Dhoni, they are looking for a strong wicket-keeper batter. However, trade talks have stopped because CSK doesn’t want to give up any of their players and also RR also doesn’t want to trade Samson because of money.
