After a dominant win over England at Edgbaston, the Indian team now heads to the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, aiming to carry forward their winning momentum. However, unlike the run-filled surface in the second Test, the third match is expected to be played on a completely different pitch one that could favour seamers.
Images of a green-top wicket at Lord’s surfaced online two days before the match, sparking buzz on social media. But has the pitch condition changed since then?
The green-top pitch seen a few days ago was expected to be trimmed before the match. As the first day approaches, the surface now appears to have a more balanced look, reflecting the efforts of the groundsmen.
The Lord’s cricket ground is the only ground with 2.5 metre slope, which helps the bowlers to generate more lateral movement than usual. Hence, scoring will be difficult on this track.
Although the early sessions are expected to favour the seamers, the pitch on Days 3 and 4 is likely to offer better conditions for the batters to bounce back into the game.
Talking about the weather report there is no rain forecast, the overcast skies are expected to assist the pacers in extracting extra swing, particularly with the new ball. As per AccuWeather, the chance of rain is just 3% today, with temperatures hovering around 31°C.
