Vaibhav Suryavanshi lit up the evening with a brilliant 33-ball 57, helping Rajasthan Royals to a convincing six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in their final IPL 2025 league game on Tuesday. The victory brought a much-needed silver lining to what had otherwise been a disappointing season for the Royals.
Chasing a target of 188, RR chased dwon the target with ease as they scored 190/4 with 17 balls to spare. Suryavanshi’s impressive knock, laid the foundation for the chase. He was well supported by captain Sanju Samson, who also contributed 41 off 31 balls, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who gave the innings a flying start with 36 off just 19 deliveries. Dhruv Jurel applied the finishing touches with a blistering unbeaten 31 off 12 balls.
RR won the toss and opted to bowl first. CSK got off to a shaky start, with their batting lineup collapsing to 78/5 in just eight overs, despite a blazing 20-ball 43 from opener Ayush Mhatre. Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube put together a crucial 59-run partnership that helped the middle-order comeback. CSK posted a competitive 187/8 thanks to quick 42 off 25 balls from Brevis and 39 from 32 deliveries from Dube.
For RR, Yudhvir Singh took 4 wickets conceeding 47 runs whereas Akash Madhwal was impressive with the ball, taking 3/29 off his four overs, and helped keep CSK in check. Madhwal was also awarded the Player of the Match award
With this victory, RR concluded their season in the positive, reflecting on the potential of their young guns and providing supporters with something to smile about as they anticipate the coming season.
