Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer on April 8 stated that he wants his team’s batters to play aggressively, fearless and with a free mindset, which is something that opener Priyansh Arya showed for his maiden IPL century against CSK.
Luck was with Priyansh for the match, as he slammed a 42-ball-103, which was the fifth fastest century in the history of IPL. PBKS rode on that century, as they managed to post 219 runs on the board.
“Absolutely. This is going to be the template, irrespective of the ground. We have variety in the batting line-up. Great hitters, great timers, scintillating to watch Priyansh bat from the outside. When I had a chat with him in the last game, he was a bit timid in his decision-making against Jofra (Archer). Tonight, he was backing his instincts,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation.
“It was free-flowing and that is the mindset I want in everyone. Today, he kept on going, he was fearless and it was basically one of the top knocks I have seen in the IPL so far,” he added.
Punjab Kings now have their next clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 12, which will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
