Mumbai Indians’ (MI)dismal performances away from home have continued as they lost their third match of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign. MI faced a 12-run defeat to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Mach 4.
MI had lost their openers in the early phase, but some fast-paced action from Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav kept the team alive. However, Tilak Varma showed a rather peculiar performance and struggled on the pitch. As a result, the team called to ‘retire out’ the star when final 7 balls were remaining, and Mitchell Santner was sent to join Hardik Pandya.
Santner scored two runs on the final ball of 19th over. Hardik was then on strike and his a six on the first ball of final over, but failed to hit a big shot on second ball. For the third and fourth deliveries, Pandya denied giving the strike to Santner, to which MI owner Akash Ambani was visibly unhappy.

MI have had a poor start to their season as they have won just a single match out of the four they have played till now, and are at the 7th place on the points table. Hardik Pandya took the team’s captaincy in 2024, and has led the team to victory in just 5 of the 17 matches he played as a leader so far.
