Following a magnificent record-breaking 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans (GT), Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi stated that while playing, he only watches the ball and not the one who is bowling it.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi shocked everyone with his outing against GT as he reached his century in 35 balls, which even forced out a reaction from head coach Rahul Dravid- who was on his wheelchair but stood up in excitement to cheer the 14-year-old.
Suryavanshi had hit 11 sixes and 7 fours in his spectacular outing against a lineup of international level bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Washington Sundar, Prasidh Krishna, Rashid Khan and Karim Janat.
“I don’t see the name (of the bowler) much, I just see the ball and play,” he told the broadcaster after the match.
“It is my first 100 in the IPL and in the third innings. It is a very good feeling, I had been practising for the IPL for the last three-four months and the results are now showing up,” he added
“It was my dream to score a century in the IPL, as I said before I had been working hard for many days and the results were visible on the ground,” he concluded.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi walked into the collective consciousness of cricket fans by becoming the youngest ever to score a hundred in an IPL match where result became inconsequential in the wake of a batting carnage for the ages.
His 35-ball century is now the second fastest in IPL and fastest ever for any Indian after Chris Gayle’s 30-ball knock for RCB. There were 11 sixes and seven fours in his 38-ball-101.
Chasing a stiff target of 210 on a friendly wicket, Rajasthan Royals went past the winning line, making 212 for two in 15.5 overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 40-ball 70 not out in the chase.
Earlier, skipper Shubman Gill struck 84 while Jos Buttler hammered unbeaten 50 to take Gujarat Titans to a formidable total of 209 for four.
