Virat Kohli and animated celebrations on the field go hand in hand. Over the years, the Indian batting maestro has got many fans due to his on-field aggression, which puts him in a different category from other Indian legends.
However, this same behaviour has resulted in Kohli being criticised. Kohli was also caught in a massive storm for one of his recent act, where he shoulder-bumped Australia’s Sam Konstas in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
In an honest acceptance, Kohli said that he usually goes overboard with his emotions and his on-field reaction. However, he then defended his actions by saying that his reactions only come at the right place.
“I do have tendencies to kind of go overboard. I’ve never shied away from that. For a lot of people, it might not have been something that they’re able to process. But for me, it always comes from the right place,” Kohli said in the RCB Innovation Lab talk on Saturday.
“My competitiveness has not gone down. You can still be aggressive in your mind, but you don’t necessarily need to express it out there every now and then out of frustration, which I have,” he added.\
As of now, Virat Kohli has joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. They will begin their campaign against defending champions Kolkata Knight Rides (KKR) in the tournament opener on March 22.
