Vijay Shankar Set for Tripura Switch: After Hanuma Vihari, another Indian player has left his team before the next season. Team India all-rounder Vijay Shankar can play for Tripura in the upcoming domestic season. He has already received NOC from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.
34-year-old Vijay Shankar, while talking to Cricbuzz on Tuesday, said, I have got NOC from TNCA, but I have not yet received confirmation from Tripura Cricket Association, I will be able to officially announce my change after getting a formal acceptance letter from Tripura. Vijay Shankar has played nine T20s and 12 ODIs for India, including the World Cup match played against Pakistan at Old Trafford in 2019.
Played 58 matches for Tamil Nadu
Vijay Shankar started his domestic career with his home state Tamil Nadu in 2012 and played 58 Ranji Trophy matches till last season, in which he scored 3,142 runs at an average of 44.25, including 11 centuries and 16 half-centuries. In List A cricket, he participated in 62 matches and scored 1,702 runs at an average of over 34, including two centuries and nine half-centuries. In T20, he played 47 matches and scored 1,004 runs.
Had an amazing performance last season
Last year, he performed brilliantly in domestic cricket and scored 476 runs in six Ranji matches at an average of 52.88, including two centuries and a half-century. In List A cricket, he participated in five matches and scored 188 runs at an average of 37.60. He scored 83 runs in four matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Hanuma Vihari will play for Tripura
Hanuma Vihari publicly announced his move to Tripura, in a social media post on Tuesday evening, he said, After deliberation, I have decided to join Tripura Cricket Association, where I will represent the state in all three formats of the game.
He further wrote, I am grateful to the Andhra Cricket Association for its role in my journey so far, but I believe now is the time for a platform that better matches my aspirations and provides me with the opportunity to consistently contribute across all formats. I am excited for this new challenge and am fully committed to giving my best in this next phase.
