England’s star batter Joe Root recently secured the second place in the list of most run-scorers in Test cricket. He is second to the one and only God of cricket- Sachin Tendulkar. With a possibility of a long career ahead of him, Root might even surpass Tendulkar and claim the top spot for the highest run-getter in red-ball cricket.

Joe Root surpassed Ricky Ponting- who previously held the second place with 13378 runs- on the 3rd Day of the 4th Test against India in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Root now has 13409 runs from 157 Tests, and is only behind Sachin Tendulkar and his tally of 15921 runs.
When asked about chasing this iconic record by Sachin Tendulkar, Joe Root told BBC Test Match Special, “It’s not something I will focus on. Those sort of things should look after themselves.”
