Punjab Kings secured a convincing 7-wickets victory over Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League in Jaipur which help them secure a top two finish in the points table.
After winning the toss, Punjab Kings opted to bowl first, inviting Mumbai Indians to bat. MI posted a total of 184 for seven, but PBKS chased it down comfortably with nine balls to spare. Josh Inglis and Pritansh Arya guided the team to a thrilling win, scoring 73 and 62 runs respectively. On the other side, Suryakumar Yadav continued his stellar form with a knock of 57 off 39 balls, taking his tally to 640 runs in this IPL season.
With this win, Punjab Kings now have 19 points from 14 matches, securing a top-two finish. Mumbai Indians ended their campaign with 16 points from 14 games. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), currently third with 17 points from 13 matches, can still finish at the top if they beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their final league-stage encounter.
Punjab Kings who confirmed their place in the playoffs for the first time sine 2014, will travel to their home ground to play Qualifier 1 which is scheduled on May 29th.
The eliminator will also be played on the same venue the followng day. The complete playoff list will be out after the last league stage match between RCB and LSG on Tuesday.
